Spittlebug

There are reportedly 23,000 species of spittle bugs that excrete a liquid from their anus which produces a mass of bubbles that they surround themselves in. This mass of bubbles is called "spittle" and is where the insect gets its name.

The "spittle" acts as protection from predators, prevents moisture loss and provides thermal control.
