Awards and Recognition

I was really surprised when my Menard County site was given the "May 2007-County of the Month Award". While all of us with the TXGenWeb project volunteer because it's something we love doing....it's really nice to know that your work is appreciated by others.

As such, this is my awards page............where I can share my appreciation for the individuals who have had a impact on me and the Menard County TXGenWeb site.

Mike Basham, Barry Best and Trey Holt-who always answered my questions about TXGenWeb with kindness....(and some of my questions were REALLY dumb.)

Robert Bean-Noticed my information on Sheriff's terms of office was incomplete and kindly provided the correct information.

Lori Bihl Dunn who cared enough about her family history to clear brush and repair fences of a long forgotten cemetery. The Menard TXGenWeb site is very lucky to receive her donation of pictures and information on the Opp/Bihl cemetery.

Gordon "Ray" Nave who shared the very interesting story of his ancestor, Mike Nave, being robbed in Menardville.

Kathey Parker ....who always has a kind word and unselfishly shares genealogical information.

Wynell Simpson....who very kindly contacted me and offered to share her transcription and pictures of the 1876 petition to Austin from Menardville citizens who were determined to keep the county seat.

DruAnn Thompson who stopped by my office when she was in town to see if I would like to have copies of some old Menard pictures she had in a scrapbook. Thanks again Dru.....and I will EVENTUALLY get them all online. ;-) (update....DruAnn also donated the wonderful information from her grandmother's diary about life in Menard.)

Janetta Whitson-previous CC of Menard County TXGenWeb who patiently held my hand as she taught me how to build web pages and upload information to our server.

John M. Winslow-A true gentleman, in every since of the word, who kindly provided a wealth of information with me about Menard County.
