Waddell Cemetery of Menard County, Texas

My deepest appreciation goes to the San Angelo Genealogical Society for giving permission to use information which they have published on Menard County, Texas. The Waddell Cemetery was published in their quarterly "Stalkin Kin" in November of 1976, Vol. 4 No. 2, pg. 66.

Stalkin Kin Information on Waddell Cemetery

"The Waddell Cemetery is located in Northwestern Menard County, Texas near Dry Creek. From Junction of U.S. 83 & Texas 29, (in Menard County), go west towards Eldorado on Texas 29 for 7.9 miles. Turn right: (North) on a county road. Follow main road 7.8 miles. Cemetery is north of an abandoned country school building. The cemetery is in the Southwest corner of Rancho Bonito, (owned in 1976 by Art Sears). It is overgrown and nearby brush has been bulldozed. The cemetery was surveyed on October 10, 1976 by J. Tom Meador."

Additional information on the Waddell Cemetery

"Elkin (Babe) Waddell and his wife, Kate Reeves-Waddell came to Menard County in the early spring of 1904 and settled northwest of present day Menard. Babe Waddell and Willie Roberts built the first school house in that area and it was named the Roberts school." (Later it would be renamed the Waddell School).
