Dr. H. G. JonesFt. McKavett Breeze-August 3, 1889 Six years ago next November, Dr. H. G. Jones and his brother, Charley, landed in Williamson county, Texas, the doctor in search of health. They came from Darby, Ps., and embarked in the sheep business soon after arriving in Williamson county, where they remained two years, but observing Horace Greeley's advice they came "west to grow up with the country," bringing up a halt in Menard County where they have been ever since. They brought their sheep with them, and which they still own, although they have been engaged in other pursuits here. Dr. Jones had no thought, when he came to Texas, of following the profession he had prepared himself for-that of medicine-notwithstanding he held diplomas from the best medical institution in Pennsylvania. He had not been here long until the people found out that he had a thorough knowledge of medicine, and he at once began receiving calls to visit the sick. His success was soon noticed by the people and calls became more numerous and at a greater distance. As the doctor had begun he now must keep it up. To about three months ago he had never the subject much thought, as he did not care to follow the business, but after a reconsideration visited the county seat, and had his diplomas registered, returned and notified the people that he was ready to serve them at any time. The consequence is Dr. Jones' success has built for him a reputation as a practicing physician, which any one might be proud of, and which reputation he richly merits. he has had calls where his knowledge of surgery was called for, and in every instance his success proved his skill. The doctor is now equiped with one of the finest rigs in the country, which shows that he means just what he says.
