A Marriage Feast
Not of the long ago, but in celebration of the Fiftieth anniversary
of the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Tipton. Owing to the late affliction,
this was not a public entertainment, but the assembling of the family
and a few other friends of half century age who came to extend felicitations
and give expressions of hope for the future happiness of the venerable
hosts, friends and companions when Menard was young.
The occasion was delightful as a remembrance of the past, and after
the elegant dinner, presided over by the hostess and her daughters, Mrs.
Walker and Mrs. John Tipton, the guests enjoyed some hours in a feast
of reason and flow of soul and antidotes and reminiscences of times and
people, past and passing away, whose life struggles and privations were
the foundation of the prosperity we now enjoy.
