Rec., Vol. 1, p. 4 Country of Birth or Allegiance: Great Britain "The State of Texas - County of Menard : Personally appeared Thomas Ball who declares upon oath that he is the natural born subject of Great Britain, that he was born in Lancashire, England, that he is 36 years of age, that he emigrated to the United States of America, and arrived at the port of New York on or about the 17th day of Oct. A. D. 1868, that it is his bonafide intention to become a citizen of the United States and renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, whatsoever, and particularly any and all allegiance to the Queen of Great Britain, and that he will bear true allegiance to the United States and support the Constitution of the same." Country of Birth or Allegiance: --- Date of Proceedings: Nov. 10, 1891 *********** Thomas Ball for citizenship {In District Court Menard County, Texas in Session on 10th Day of November A.D. 1841 It appearing to the Court that Thomas Ball has heretofore filed his declaration of intention to become a citizen of the United States in the Clerk's office of the district court of said county in terms of the laws of the Congress of the United States in such cases made and proved; and said Thomas Ball having produced satisfactory evidence of good moral character of this attachment to the Constitution of the United States and one year in the state of Texas (????) proceeding the date hereof and of is good disposition towards the government of the same (and having renounced his title of nobility). It is therefore (????????) by the court, that the Louis Thomas Ball, (???) he is hereby admitted to all the rights, immunities, and privileges of a citizen of the United States in terms of the constitution and laws of the same; and it it further ordered that the clerk of this court issue Thomas Ball a certified copy of these proceedings he having first paid the cash herein incurred.
