D. H. EVANS DEAD
The citizens of Eden were shocked Tuesday night when they learned that D. H. Evans, had taken a large dose of strychnine, from the effects of which he soon died.
The funeral was held Wednesday evening, conducted by Rev. Wall, after which the W. O. W. lodge performed the burial service of the order.
He leaves a wife, two sons and two daughters, an aged mother, brothers and sisters, besides a host of friends who mourn his untimely end. Walter, his youngest son, who has been attending school at Thorp Spring, arrived just a few minutes after the death of his father. The Echo extends condolence to the bereaved. ----Echo-----

Last Saturday evening, at their home on South Brady, Mr. A. M. Favers attempted to shoot a rattlesnake, and after pulling the trigger of the gun, there was so long an interval without firing that Mr. Favers raised the gun to investigate the cause and as he elevated the barrel the seemingly misfire ejected the contents of the shell, the charge taking effect in the right side of their baby girl, Mary Lucy, aged nine years. Some underbrush hid her from the view of her father and he did not suspect her being there until heard her scream. A heroic effort was put forth to save the child's life but on Sunday morning death came.
Mr. and Mrs. Favers and family have the sympathy of everyone in this sad misfortune, which to them is the bitterest grief possible, even though the accident was unavoidable. --Eden Echo-----
