News from 1914The Menard Messenger Sam Zuetermoyer has purchased a five passenger Ford car and from now on we will expect to see him and his family in town often from the ranch. Mrs. D. T. Benchoff is expected Thursday from Ft. Worth with her son who underwent an operation there. The operation was a successful one and the little fellow is getting along nicely. T. H. Curry, in spite of the bad roads turned his car towards San Angelo, Tuesday, and expects to get there in time to see the big horse races which will be pulled off there this week. Cassuis is to run against Hiram Baker and the Jack of Diamonds is matched against Bob Riley. D. Knox of Kerr County has opened up the Harvey Hotel near the depot and will have charge of it from now on. Roy Gay accompanied by his sister Mamie, and his mother returned home Friday from Ft. Worth. Roy, while still weak from the effect of his operation will soon be entirely recovered.
