Mary Augusta Roeck
Shortly after twelve o’clock , Wednesday occurred the death of
little Mary Roeck, the seven year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Roeck
of this city. The cause of her death was a form of tonsillitis. She has
been ill for several weeks and was slowly failing in health in spite of
all efforts to effect a cure. Menard extends to the bereaved parents in
their grief its sympathy in their loss. Little Mary was the life of the
home and her bright presence will be greatly missed by her sorrowing parents
and her two sisters.

Alvin Curly Robbins
Alvin Curly Robbins fifteen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Robbins,
died at their home here, Monday morning, of typhoid fever. Curly was rapidly
improving when he suddenly suffered a relapse. The remains were taken
to Rochelle, their former home, for burial. He was born March 12, 1901.
He was an unusually bright lad and had a host of friend. A mechanic by
nature, he did a man's part in assisting in his father's garage. The family
have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.

Mrs. Elizabeth Ridgeway
Mrs. Elizabeth Ridgeway died at San Antonio Thursday, May 9th and the
remains were brought to Menard where the funeral was held Saturday afternoon
at the F. Luckenbach home.
Mrs. Ridgeway was the daughter of Mrs. J. C. Wilhelm and was born January
15, 1880. Seventeen years ago, she was married to Ray Ridgeway and one
child, a daughter, Myrtle was born to them.
She was a Menard County girl born and reared and had many friends as the
many beautiful floral offerings show, and who join the family in mourning
her untimely death.
Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. E.
Habey and children of Lampasas; Mr. and Mrs. Vierling, Junction; Mr. and
Mrs. H. Probst, Fredericksburg; Mrs. D. C. Kirk, Mrs. A. H. Conner, Mrs.
W. Walker, and Miss E. Louther of Brady; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tisdale of Eldorado.

Miss John Eva Rhoades
Miss John Eva Rhoades died at the home of her parents in North Menard, Thursday, November 14th after a lingering illness and the funeral services were held the following day with Rev. Tant officiating.
Miss Rhoades was born Aug. 1873 in Williamson county and came to Menard with her parents in 1892. She was a member of the Christian church and had a host of friends here who loved her for her sweet kindly disposition. Besides her parents she leaves five sisters to mourn her loss; Miss Lake of Bisbee, Mrs. Sawyers of Guthrie, Mrs. W. J. Smith of Red Rock, Mrs. Maude Moore of Smithville, and Mrs. McClarey. Mrs. McClarey was the only sister present at the funeral, although Mrs. Smith arrived the following day. Menard extends it's sympathy to the bereaved family.
