LEONARD WILKERSON
At the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Wilkerson in Tucker occurred the death
of their son Leonard, of diphtheria. The funeral was held at the Hext
graveyard, Sunday evening at 5 o’clock. Mrs. R. A. Chapman, Miss
Vida Chapman
and Bob Chapman and family of Menard attended the burial services. Leonard
was thirteen years of age at the time of his death and was sick but a
few days before his death. The family has the sympathy of all in their
bereavement.

Thursday, June 15, 1916
Mrs. Luther Watters
Mrs. Luther Watters died at her father-in-laws home near here last week,
Wednesday. Mrs. Watters was twenty-six years old at the time of her death.
She leaves no children. She and her husband came here eight months ago
from Colorado Springs, Colorado, where they were married three years ago.
Rev. Ely had charge of the funeral services which were held from the Baptist
Church. The remains were interred in the Menard cemetery. Her parents
and brother were here from Colorado to attend the funeral. The relatives
of the deceased and her friends have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.

Alfred Wilson
Tuesday night at 7:30 death came to the home of Alfred Wilson and called
him from his family and friends. Mr. Wilson has been suffering for some
time with typhoid fever, but up until the time of his death there was
every hope for his recovery. He leaves to mourn his death a wife and little
baby besides a host of friends. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon.

Grandma Wyatt
Mrs. Martha Wyatt died at the Adolph Beyer home in Menard, Tuesday afternoon
at the age of seventy-six. The remains were interred Wednesday in the
Menard Cemetery. Rev. Roberts officiating. Mrs. Wyatt was known and loved
by all Menard People. Her years of helpfulness and Christian charity endeared
to every one with whom she came in contact.
Mrs. Wyatt was born in Illinois, in February, 1840, later moved to Missouri
where in 1856 she was married to Frank Findlay and moved to Texas. Mr.
Findley lost his life during the war in 1860. She then married A. B. Wyatt
in 1864 and they moved to Menard County in 1875. He was at one time Judge
of Menard County for eight years. After his death she made her home with
her daughter, Mrs. Adolph Beyers.
Eight living children survive her; Frank Findley, Mrs. Lizzie Harris,
Lige, Bob and George Wyatt, Mrs. Bud Autrey of Eden, Mrs. Tommie Ellis
and Mrs. Adolph Beyer besides several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Few people have endeared themselves to the people of this community
as has this Christian woman and leave so many friends to mourn her departure
from this world. The children have the sympathy of all Menard in their
loss.

Death of Sammie Joe Walker
Sammie Joe Walker, the Sixteen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Walker
died at their ranch home, Thursday evening at four thirty. Services were
held at the grave at 5 o'clock the following afternoon. Sammie Joe has
been sick for some time and everything that loving hands could do for
the boy was done but in spite of all the work of specialists and of a
host of friends and relatives the hand of death could not be loosed. The
Messenger joins with the friends and the family in extending its sincerest
sympathy.

DEATH OF MRS. HOMER WESTBROOK
Last Monday morning occurred the death of Mrs. Homer Westbrook of pellagra.
While having been sick for some time, death came unexpectedly and sudden.
Mrs. Westbrook is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. N.. Wagner, well known
citizens of the Hext community. She leaves a boy eight months old and
her husband, besides her parents and family to mourn her. The sorrowing
relatives have the sympathy of all in their great loss.

Mrs. Chas. Wahrmund
After a lingering illness from Cancer of the stomach Mrs. Chas. Wahrmund
died at the Mason Sanitarium on Wednesday, March 20, 1918
Miss Elizabeth Watenbach was born at Fredericksburg, January 5, 1852,
and was married to Chas Wahrmund, October 18, 1874 and to this union was
born seven children, five girls and two boys viz: Mrs. Mary Felter, Mrs.
August Schild, Hugo, Mrs. John Reese, Mrs. Otto VanderStucken, Miss Lena
Wahrmund and Willie. They moved to Menard in the year 1901 where they
have since resided. Mrs. Wahrmund was a member of the Methodist church
and lived a true Christian life, loved by everyone and doing good in her
quiet way.
The funeral service was held the following day at the home in South Menard,
conducted by Rev. J. A. Boatman, interment in city cemetery. The whole
community greatly sympathize with the family in their loss.
